In accordance with the policy approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the contact information a domain name is registered with must be correct and accurate at all times. What’s more, this information is publicly available on WHOIS lookup websites and while this may be okay for companies, it may not be very convenient for individuals, since everyone can view their names and their personal email and street addresses, especially in an age when identity fraud is not that unusual. That’s why registrars have launched a service that conceals the details of their customers without editing them. The service is referred to as Whois Privacy Protection. In case it is active, people will view the details of the domain registrar, not those of the domain owner, if they do a WHOIS search. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic TLD extensions, but it is still impossible to hide your personal information with certain country-code extensions.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

If you get a shared hosting package from us, you will be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domain names in case their extensions support this option. You can register or transfer a domain and add Whois Privacy Protection during the signup procedure or you can activate the service for any of your domains at any time afterwards via the Hepsia Control Panel. The procedure is stunningly easy – once you sign in, you’ll need to go to the Registered Domains section where you’ll see a list of all the domains that you’ve registered with our company. For each one of them you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, which will inform you if the service is active or not. By clicking it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain, or you can turn off the service if it is currently active.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you want to conceal the contact details associated with your domain name and you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will be able to activate our Whois Privacy Protection service either during the account activation process or at any moment later via our Hepsia Control Panel. The service is optional and can be added with a few clicks of the mouse from the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel where all the domain names that you’ve registered with us will be listed in alphabetical order. You can order Whois Privacy Protection for any of the Top-Level Domain extensions that support this service by simply clicking on the “Whois Privacy Protection” logo on the right-hand side of each domain. In the exact same fashion, you can also renew the service or disable it – if you’d like to transfer a domain name to a different company and you need the real mailbox associated with the domain to be visible.
